This policy explains what information WouldYouRather.info (“we”, “us”) collects when you use this website, and why. The short version: you can play without an account, votes are anonymous, and we do not sell your data.
Information we collect
Votes
When you pick an option, our server adds one to that option’s anonymous counter. The vote is not linked to your name, account or email. To stop automated vote stuffing, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address in temporary storage for up to one hour.
Data stored in your browser
The game saves a few small items in your browser’s local storage: which questions you have seen, which option you picked, and your current streak. This lets the game show you new questions first. It never leaves your device, and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
Contact form
If you send us a message, we receive your name, email address and message by email so we can reply. We keep these messages only as long as we need them to answer you and to handle follow-up questions. A temporary, hashed record of your IP address (kept for up to one hour) limits how many messages can be sent.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running, and are deleted on the host’s normal schedule.
Third-party services
- Google Fonts: our pages load a font from Google’s servers, so Google receives your IP address and browser information when you visit. See Google’s privacy policy.
- Hosting and caching: our hosting provider stores and delivers the site and processes the server logs described above.
We do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. If we add advertising or analytics in the future, we will update this policy before doing so and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Cookies
Visitors who just play the game do not get any cookies from us. The browser storage described above is not a cookie and is not used for tracking.
Children
Our questions are written to be suitable for all ages. The game does not ask for any personal information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the contact form; if you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to how it is used. Because votes are anonymous we cannot link them to you, but we can delete contact messages you have sent. To make a request, use our contact form.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
